There’s something about a sundress that just makes getting dressed easy. One piece, a great pair of shoes, a few accessories, and somehow you look completely put together without actually having to put together an outfit.
I’ve always loved clothes and putting together an outfit, but these days I appreciate anything that makes looking put-together a little easier. And for me, a sundress does exactly that. It’s feminine without feeling fussy, comfortable enough for real life, and one of those rare things I can wear almost anywhere.
I’ll throw one on with flat sandals and a tote to run errands or head to a playdate, dress it up a little for lunch, or add a heel, jewelry, and a great bag for date night. Same idea, completely different look.
It’s All in the Details
I tend to gravitate toward dresses with a little something special — a beautiful neckline, an interesting back, a flattering waist, a feminine print, or a fabric that moves beautifully. Nothing overly complicated, just those small details that make a simple dress feel special.
Make It Your Own
The best part about a sundress is how easily it changes depending on what you wear with it. Simple sandals and minimal jewelry keep it casual; a statement earring or a heel instantly dresses it up. Add a sweater when it gets cooler, throw your hair up, grab your favorite bag, and go.
There really aren’t many rules, which might be why I love them so much.
The One-Piece Outfit
Maybe that’s the real art of the sundress: it does most of the work for you.
It lets you feel feminine and put together while still being comfortable enough to live your actual life in it. And whether I’m running errands, going to lunch, chasing little ones, or heading out for the night, chances are there’s a sundress in my closet that works.
Effortless, feminine, and just a little romantic — I’ll choose the dress every time.
